EUCHARISTIC MINISTER
When priests need assistance distributing communion at Mass,
they enlist the help of the laity. Referred to as Eucharistic Ministers, these
people are extra ordinary ministers not extraordinary. The Bishop, as the
Ordinary of the diocese, maintains order while priests assisting the Bishop
throughout the diocese are the Ordinary Ministers.
It is the responsibility of all those who distribute the
Eucharist (priests, deacons and extra ministers) to ensure the reverent and
careful celebration and reception of communion. Therefore it is necessary for
those desiring to be Eucharistic Ministers to attend a training session here in
the parish.
Anyone desiring to be a Eucharistic Minister, should express his
or her interest to the pastor.
